Sykes’ first double, Sofuoglu on top in WSS and STK classes debut.

The WorldSBK.com 2014 recap continues with the second event of the year, which took place at Alcaniz’s MotorLand Aragon in Spain. The first European event of the year also marked the season debut of both STK classes and the Pata European Junior Cup, powered by Honda.

The new arrivals for the Spanish event in the Superbike class are Bimota and the Team Alstare, fielding two BB3 machines for Ayrton Badovini and Christian Iddon.

Saturday’s Tissot-Superpole had an absolute protagonist in the defending champion Tom Sykes, who set the quickest time and raised the bar for the following day’s two races. Come Sunday, the Briton was dominant once again by doing the double and setting the fastest lap times of both race 1 and race 2, whilst the EVO class saw Barrier’s substitute Leon Camier and David Salom taking one best finish a piece.

Three time World Supersport Champion Kenan Sofuoglu took his first victory of the year, while the STK1000 and STK600 classes saw on top of the podium Leandro Mercado and Marco Faccani, respectively.
